Ductless Mini-Split Repair & Maintenance
Get My Quote
Is your mini-split blinking, dripping, or blowing air that never quite cools? Most of the time, the cause is small, like a clogged drain, a dirty filter, or a slow refrigerant leak. KO HVAC repairs and maintains ductless systems around Kingston, pinpointing the cause before quoting a fix.
Many older Kingston homes were never built for ductwork, so mini-splits handle all the heating and cooling. When one head goes quiet, that room goes without. That's why we price the repair plainly, then get both modes running again.

Mini-splits usually warn you before they quit. A light blinks, a drip appears, or the room drifts away from its setting. Spot these early, and the repair tends to stay small.
The indoor unit is trying to tell you something, usually through a pattern of flashing lights. Codes can point to a sensor, a drain problem, or trouble talking to the outdoor unit. Note the pattern before you call, since it speeds up the diagnosis.
A drip down the wall or onto the floor usually means the drain line or drain pump is clogged. Dust and algae build up over time, until the water has nowhere to go. Left alone, it can stain walls and soak whatever sits below.
The fan keeps running, but the room never reaches the setting. A dirty filter, a small refrigerant leak, or a failing sensor is usually behind it. We check each one, starting with the simplest fix first.
A light frost in winter is normal, and the unit melts it off on its own. Heavy ice that stays, or a unit buried in a drift, points to a defrost problem or blocked airflow. Switch to backup heat if you have it, and give us a call.
Mini-splits are known for running quietly, so any new noise stands out. A worn fan motor, a loose part, or debris in the blower wheel is often to blame. Catching it early can save the motor from a bigger, pricier repair.
In a multi-zone system, one quiet head can mean a wiring, sensor, or board problem in that unit. When every head stops at once, the fault often sits outside. Either way, we test the whole system before naming the fix.

Across the industry, most mini-split repairs run about $150 to $650. An inverter board or compressor can run about $1,000 to $2,500. The final number depends on the part, the labor, and whether refrigerant work is involved.
KO HVAC starts every ductless repair with a $99 diagnostic that finds the cause, separate from the repair price. You approve a flat-rate price before any work, and Mitsubishi coverage on our installs can pay for a covered part. Smaller repairs can qualify for 0% financing for 12 months, with approved credit.

Most ductless problems are worth fixing, and we'll say so when that's true. A few mean the system has reached the end of the road. The table shows how we tell the two apart.
| Repair makes sense | Replacement is worth pricing | |
|---|---|---|
| System age | Newer, with plenty of years left | Older and failing more often |
| The problem | One failed part or a small leak | Repeated leaks or a failed compressor |
| Parts | Still available from the manufacturer | Hard to find or discontinued |
| How it's priced | $99 diagnostic, then a flat-rate price | A written estimate after an in-home visit |
| Coverage | Manufacturer coverage may still apply | A new system brings fresh coverage |

Mini-splits are a core part of our work in every season. We're a Mitsubishi Electric Elite Diamond Contractor, a top tier in its contractor program. We also repair Fujitsu, Carrier, and other major ductless brands.
A $99 diagnostic finds the problem, and you get a flat-rate price in plain words. If a repair isn't worth the money, we'll tell you. You approve every dollar before work starts.
Most mini-splits heat as well as cool, so we test both modes before we leave. A fix in July shouldn't let you down in January. Plan members also save on repair work and can get after-hours emergency repairs.
From the first call to a system tested in both modes, here's how every repair runs.
Step 1
Start With a Quick Call
Call or book online, and tell us what the unit is doing. If a light is blinking, just let us know, and we'll take it from there.
Step 2
We Test Every Head and the Outdoor Unit
A technician checks the indoor heads, the outdoor unit, the wiring between them, and the refrigerant. The $99 diagnostic covers this visit.
Step 3
The Fix Gets Priced Up Front
You get a flat-rate price and a plain explanation. If replacement makes more sense, we'll say so. Work starts only once you approve.
Step 4
Heating and Cooling Both Get Tested
We repair, then run the system in both modes. Before leaving, we clean the filters and show you how to keep them that way.

Someone answers our phone at every hour of the day. From 8 to 5, the office books the earliest opening. After hours, maintenance plan members can get emergency repairs at an after-hours rate.
Count the flashes on the indoor unit, or check its display, and write the pattern down. That code often narrows the problem before a technician arrives.
Clear snow off the top and sides, but never chip at ice. If it keeps getting buried, ask us about a raised stand. If it's your only heat, tell us when you call.

Blinking lights are the unit's way of reporting an error. The pattern often points to a sensor, a drain issue, or a communication problem between the indoor and outdoor units. Try switching it off at the breaker for a minute. If the blinking returns, write down the pattern and call.
Water usually means the drain line or drain pump is clogged with dust or algae. It can also happen when a dirty filter lets the coil freeze, then drip as it thaws. Clearing the drain and cleaning the coil fixes most of these leaks.
Yes. KO HVAC repairs Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Carrier, and most other major ductless brands, no matter who installed them. You don't need the model number before calling. Our technician will identify the system and its parts during the visit.
It depends on the brand, the system's age, and who installed it. Mitsubishi systems we install carry up to 12 years of coverage on parts and the compressor. Labor coverage varies, so we'll check your system's status before quoting.
Rinse the washable filters every few weeks when the system runs heavily. Once a year, schedule a professional tune-up to clean the coil and blower wheel, flush the drain, and test the outdoor unit. Systems that heat and cool may do best with a visit before each season.
Yes. Mini-splits that heat can be diagnosed and repaired in cold weather, and winter is often when problems show up. If the outdoor unit is iced over, turn the system off and call. We'll check the defrost cycle and airflow during the visit.
